I am a Spring 2021 graduate of the Masters of Information Studies (MSIS) program at the University of Texas at Austin, focusing my studies around archives and preservation, records management, and museum studies. I have a background in fine arts, earning a BFA in Sculpture from California State University at Long Beach in 2011 and a MFA in Sculpture from Rutgers’ Mason Gross School of the Arts in 2015.
I entered the School of Information with a strong academic background in fine arts and art history and a career rooted in the practices of preservation framing and design administration. However, it was my desire to further care for collections materials that led me to the archives.
As a born organizer, I am drawn to processing collections, getting to know the record creator, and preserving records and artifacts through sustainable digitization processes. I am passionate about the preservation, organization, and the facilitation of access to collection materials, so that we can move toward a more complete historical record and learn from our past. I am dedicated to continued learning and look forward to the opportunity to demonstrate my ability to adapt my skillset to new technologies.
As an archivist, I feel that it is important to foster a space that supports and engages with a diverse cohort of users across communities and the institution in both physical and digital environments.
